The last of the summer holidays are finally behind us and with the kids back to school, we can get back into our old routines.
It has been very dry the past months for us and we have had to make an extra effort to water our gardens and pots every evening. We have been using an expandable hose (from www.growgifts.co.nz), which has been fantastic to get around our garden beds without getting twisted or kinked.
Happy gardening, Warren & Monique

This year one of our clients suggested that we grow our climbing beans alongside our sweetcorn. This means that the corn acts as a stake for the beans to grow with both maturing at the same time. Soak corn seeds for several hours before planting. Keep well watered for the first week or two.
After young corn plants come up, begin removing weeds. As you are weeding, gently mound, or hill, the soil around the young plants.
When the corn plants are about 15cm high, climbing beans can be planted around the corn (plant four or five bean seeds in each hill).
